X-Com 3 – Apocalypse
is a DOS based strategy game set on a futuristic planet Earth, where a new organic, exrtradimentional aliens is posing terror to the self-contained Megalopolis-type cities that provides habitation to humanity.
The game is similar to the first two X-Com games that
feature map-like management mode and an isometric battle mode . The management mode takes place in a single city called Mega Primus rather that spreads around over the entire planet. As for the graphics, Apocalypse features
re-done interface with new visual elements . The game is also more complex and the task of keeping and increasing the funding of the X-Com now extends to not only intercepting UFOs, but also to minimizing collateral damage, preventing alien hostile takeovers and even raiding buildings to other organizations.
A new feature is also introduced, which allows players to
choose tactical mission on either turn based or real-time mode . The game also features self-adjusting difficulty, where player performances influence the Alien zeal to expand and infest.
This game is the CD-ROM version that works for Windows. It also goes together with a patch that fixes graphic problems on Windows XP and some other system platforms.
